Hi mommas ! Happy Saturday .
Today has been a very interesting and hard day . Breastfeeding has been going well since my babygirl was born 12/4 she is 7w now .
All of a sudden today since this morning she has refused the breast . I was engorged this morning she refused the right side and kind of refused the left side. She did not drink enough out of the left . I ended up pumping and giving her a bottle of 2 oz .
This has been going on all day . Her latch is off .. she is totally refusing to breast feed . Whenever I squeeze my breast it shoots out ! She usually relieves my engorgement.
What’s going on ? I thank God she can take a bottle but is this forever . Im worried . Makes you feel a certain way when your baby refuses the breast all of a sudden .
Please help !!!

No answers for you just relating! My girl is 5 days younger than yours. She started refusing to nurse this morning too. She does have a cough, so I’m hoping it’s just discomfort from that.

@Malkiab,
I’ve continued to offer breast first, but then when she refuses I offer her a bottle and then pump.

My second one did this to me, sounds like a feeding strike. He would wail and wail because hungry but wouldn’t take the boob/bottle.
What worked for me was going topless and holding him cradle with his face right at the breast and walking while bouncing him and eventually he’d calm down, latch and drink. The scene was something else haha but it worked! I had to do it for a week about and finally it passed.
I’ve also had to resort to feeding in his room with the lights dimmed and door closed so there was no distractions and over simulation but that more when he was older and curious/distracted but a calm environment should help either way.
Keep persisting mama!

I had this and it was because the engorgement was shooting the milk into my son's mouth it was too overwhelming for him. I found expressing a little to take the pressure off and then offering breast he was more then happy to bf. we just saved the Expressed milk 'for just in case' (they are still in the freezer). my supply settled down but I still produce more milk than needed.
