Cape Cod Baseball League roundup: Y-D's late comeback leads them to win over Harwich (2025)

The Y-D Red Sox (5-2) pinch hitter Ryan Sprock (Elon) had the winning single on a sharp ground ball to left field in the top of the ninth inning that scored Wehima Aloy (Arkansas) for a 4-3 win over the Harwich Mariners (4-3) on Saturday.

The Red Sox trailed 3-0 after five innings, and then scored three runs in the top of the sixth inning that tied the game. Aloy went 3-for-3 at the plate with an RBI, one double, while Aiven Cabral (Northeastern) picked up the win as he pitched 2.2 scoreless innings, gave up one hit, walked one, struck out three.

Robbie Burnett (UNC Asheville) had two of the five hits, while starter Griffin Kirn (Quincy) pitched 5.1 innings, scattered two hits, gave up no earned runs, walked two, and struck out two for Harwich.

Cotuit Kettleers 6, Brewster Whitecaps 1

The pitching for the Kettleers (4-3) was the story in the win over the Whitecaps (3-4). Joey Volchko (Stanford) picked up the win as he pitched 2.1 innings, scattered two hits, gave up one run, walked three and struck out four. Starter Ben Jacobs (Arizona State) pitched three scoreless innings, allowed one hit, walked one, and struck out five, while Jacob Shafer (UNC Wilmington) went 2.2 scoreless innings, allowed one hit, walked none and struck out four. Seven different Kettleers recorded a hit, while Devin Taylor (Indiana) had a triple and scored twice.

J.D. Rogers (Vanderbilt) had two of the four hits, and Nolan Schubart (Oklahoma State) had a double and two runs scored for Brewster. Levi Huseman (Vanderbilt) pitched three innings, scattered two hits, gave up one run, walked one and struck out five.

Hyannis Harbor Hawks 6, Orleans Firebirds 3

Illinois' Camden Janik (two scored runs, one RBI) and Niagara's Nick Groves (one run) led the way with three hits each for Hyannis (5-1). Jon Jon Gazdar (Austin Peay State) collected two hits at the plate, while Dallas Baptist's Michael Dattalo (one double, one run), Arizona's Mason White (one triple, one run, one RBI), Duke's Wallace Clark (one double, two RBIs), and Georgia Tech's Parker Brosius (one home run, two RBIs, one run). Blaine Wynk (Ohio State) picked up the win as he pitched 3.1 scoreless and hitless innings with three strikeouts.

Daniel Bucciero (Fordham) hit a home run in the second inning, while Hudson Shupe (Gonzaga) finished with two hits for Orleans (1-6). Itsuki Takemoto (Hawaii) pitched 3.1 scoreless innings, gave up one hit, walked two, and struck out three.

Wareham Gatemen 7, Bourne Braves 3

The Gatemen (5-2) trialed 3-1 to the Braves as they headed into the top of the seventh inning. Wareham scored three runs in the seventh and eighth innings for the win. Jacob Jarrell (Clemson) went yard in the third inning and finished with two hits, three RBIs, and one scored run. Davidson's Eli Putnam (one run) and Arizona's Brendan Summerhill (one RBI) each had two hits, while South Florida's Bobby Boser (one double, two runs) also contributed. Jacob Faulkner (Princeton) picked up the win as he pitched 1.1 scoreless and hitless innings, and gave up no walks.

Davis Gillespie (Southern Mississippi), Coastal California's Caden Bodine (one run, one double, one RBI), and Vanderbilt's Camden Kozeal (one RBI, one walk) each had one hit for Bourne. Starter Connor Wietgrefe (Minnesota) pitched six innings, scattered four hits, allowed one run, walked one, and struck out six.

Chatham Anglers 9, Falmouth Commodores 2

The Anglers (4-3) never trailed in the game as they beat the Commodores (1-6). Austin Overn (USC) led the way at the plate with two hits (one double, one home run), five RBIs, and one scored run. Auburn's Ike Irish (two hits, one run, one walk), and Austin Peay's John Bay (three hits, three RBIs, two runs, one walk) also contributed to the win. Starter Drake George (Lewis Clark State College) pitched five scoreless innings, scattered five hits, walked one, and struck out six.

Jaxon Willits (Oklahoma), Donovan LaSelle (Oklahoma State), and Arkansas' Jayson Jones (one run) each recorded two hits at the plate for Falmouth. Riley Stanford (Georgia Tech) pitched 3.1 innings, allowed two hits, gave up no earned runs or walks, and struck out four.
